Simcenter Madymo is the dedicated tool for automotive passive safety and occupant restraint simulation, combining multibody dynamics and finite elements to model occupant response and injury in a crash.

Overview

Passive safety simulation is not only about how the car behaves — it is about how the occupant is injured. Madymo describes occupant motion and loading with multibody dummy models, while finite elements handle airbag deployment, seatbelt webbing and interior contact, solved in a coupled manner. It ships a validated dummy library covering regulatory and consumer-test load cases.

The tool is standard equipment at OEMs and safety component suppliers, used mainly for restraint system matching, airbag parameter calibration and pre-assessment against regulations. Substituting simulation for part of the physical crash test programme reduces development cost noticeably.
