NX
Integrated design, simulation and manufacturing for complex products
NX brings mechanical design, simulation and NC programming into one environment. Change the design and the model and toolpaths follow — no more shuttling data between disconnected tools.
NX is the high-end offering within Siemens Designcenter, spanning concept design, detailed structural design, mechatronics, simulation and NC programming. Built on a single modelling kernel, the design model is consumed directly by simulation and manufacturing, avoiding the geometry and feature loss that comes with cross-tool translation.
For companies with complex product structures, frequent changes and tight machining tolerances, NX pays off through associativity: one master model drives drawings, simulation, process planning and NC code, so a single change propagates everywhere. That is what makes it viable in aerospace, automotive and tool & die work.
Key capabilities
Synchronous technology
Combines the freedom of direct modelling with the control of parametric design — including on "dumb" geometry from suppliers.
Master model associativity
Design, drafting, simulation and machining share one master model; changes propagate downstream automatically.
Advanced NC programming
From 2.5-axis to 5-axis simultaneous, mill-turn, on-machine inspection and robot programming, with built-in verification.
Generative design
Generates viable structural options from loads and constraints — the algorithm explores, the engineer decides.
Additive manufacturing
Lattice structures and metal print process planning inside the same environment as design.
Mechatronics
Mechanical, electrical and automation design in one platform, including cable and harness routing.
What it delivers
- Design and manufacturing share one source of truth — no manual re-syncing
- 5-axis and mill-turn capability covering most high-end machining work
- Built-in simulation cuts outsourcing and shortens iteration cycles
- Deep Teamcenter integration — fits straight into an enterprise PLM landscape
- Open API for customisation; CBL holds 16 software copyrights for in-house extensions
