Simcenter Flomaster is a 1D thermo-fluid system simulation tool. Build pipe networks from standard components and evaluate flow distribution, pressure loss and system matching quickly.

Overview

A lot of questions can be answered in 1D long before committing to 3D CFD. Is this pump head sufficient? Is flow evenly distributed across branches? Will the cooling system cavitate at peak load? Flomaster assembles the system from pumps, valves, pipes and heat exchangers and answers in minutes.

It suits system-level sizing and matching especially well, because changing one parameter re-solves immediately — engineers can sweep dozens of combinations at concept stage instead of waiting overnight for a 3D run. Use 1D for the system scheme and 3D CFD for local detail; together they are far more productive than either alone.
