CFD inside your CAD, runnable by the designer

Simcenter FLOEFD embeds directly in NX, Solid Edge and Creo. Analyse flow and heat transfer on the design model itself, with no separate geometry cleanup or meshing step.

Overview

The barrier in conventional CFD is rarely the solver — it is pre-processing. Extracting the flow volume, patching surfaces and meshing can consume a day, and usually only a dedicated analyst can do it. FLOEFD instead defines fluid regions directly on the CAD model, recognises solid and fluid automatically, and discretises with a Cartesian mesh, cutting pre-processing from hours to minutes.

That makes designer-led thermal analysis realistic: lay out a board and immediately check whether cooling is adequate; move a fan and see the effect minutes later. It will not replace STAR-CCM+ for complex external aerodynamics, but for electronics cooling, cabinet ventilation, luminaires and internal valve flow it is dramatically more efficient.
